People travelling on flights to Abu Dhabi in the coming years will have a lot more cultural venues to choose from as the emirate is planning to open a pair of high profile museums.
The state has announced it is restarting plans to construct its own branches of the prestigious Louvre gallery in Paris and the Guggenheim in New York by 2017.
After falling into problems last year the plans stalled but they have been restated now, along with the construction of the Zayed National Museum, with all three venues to be constructed together on Saadiyat Island.
Each of the venues will be worth visiting based on their architectural merit alone, as Jean Nouvel is designing the Louvre, Lord Norman Foster is working on the Zayed and Frank Gehry will be overseeing the Guggenheim.

Dubai Metro 'to become quieter
People who use the Metro after taking flights to Dubai could find the network is more pleasant to use than before as the system is set to run more quietly.
The Roads and Transport Authority has announced it is joining with German company Gerb Worldwide to find ways of making the transport system run more smoothly and reduce the level of noise it creates.
Steps to achieve this will include reducing the vibrations and sound caused in areas adjoining the tracks, although it noted this noise is a natural result of the trains travelling along the tracks when filled with passengers.

Abu Dhabi has eco-friend streetlights installed
People taking flights to Abu Dhabi could be interested to know the streetlights in the emirate have become a little bit greener.
The authorities in the state have announced they have been fitting existing lamps with power saving LED bulbs.
The step was no simple feat, as 600,000 fittings had to be replaced by the Municipality of Abu Dhabi, with the work predicted to take around six years to complete.
However, the move will also help to cut the energy bills for the authority, as it is estimated the step will save around 500 million United Arab Emirates Dirhams (£89 million) in energy costs over the next 20 years.

Etihad Airways ready to order new worth $2.8 billion aircrafts
Reference
On Monday, the Etihad Airways announced that it would place an order for 10 787-9 Dreamliners and two Boeing 777 Freighters. This deal of worth $2.8 billion approx has made the airline the world's biggest Dreamliner consumer.
Being two of the most fuel-efficient aircraft in the world, Boeing 787 Dreamliner and 777 have gained much popularity in the world of air travel. With the purchase of 10 787-9 Dreamliners and two Boeing 777 Freighters, Etihad Airways is hoping that this deal would speed up the company's growth as it has been flourishing quickly since the beginning of year 2003.
The flag airline of UAE, Etihad Airways is one of the fastest-growing airlines in the world. The airline operates flights to almost 70 destinations in nearly 50 countries. The airline may not be highly popular for selling tickets on cheap flights to UAE or other destinations yet stay on the top of the preference list of millions of travellers due to its premium facilities and services. Now, with airline’s decision to purchase 10 787-9 Dreamliners, which are 20 percent extra fuel efficient, the airline is expected to reduce its operating cost and pass on the benefit to travellers in the form of cheap tickets.
If not all airline routes, travellers booking on 787 routes to and from Abu Dhabi are likely to net cheap flights to UAE and save on holiday trips to tour the country.
Abu Dhabi Airport is the hub for Etihad and with cheaper tickets, the already sought after city will also become a preferred port of entry for those planning to travel to UAE.
The first commercial debut of the 787 Dreamliner was originally scheduled for 2008 but took place only this October. Due to such an extended hold-up in the production, many airlines have reportedly withdrawn their orders Boeing.
